The only way to truly read putts is have access to a level. Carrying a 4 foot level wouldn’t work so some smart folks created a golf putting aid that has a level built right into the base of the putter. By using the device by simply placing flat on the ground you can learn the break of any putt. I hear professional golfers use devices like these to quiz themselves when they look at the put and then verify their eye with the putter with the level built in.
